Questions families ask
Each tree begins with a central person or couple, such as an individual ancestor, a married couple, or a divorced parent. From there, your tree can be designed in one of two ways:
Ancestor Tree: Best for showing where someone came from. It can include up to 7 generations of ancestors in the tree, plus up to 3 generations of descendants in the roots.
Descendant Tree: Best for showing the family that grew from one person or couple. It can include up to 300 descendants, plus up to 3 generations of ancestors in the roots: parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.
If there are special people who do not fit neatly into the main branches — such as siblings, aunts, uncles, step-parents, or other loved ones — we can often include them in the optional details section.
Everything happens right in our live family tree designer, so you don't need to email us files, upload documents, or prepare a spreadsheet: you can use the live designer to import names from FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, etc., or simply type the info in by hand. The designer saves your tree as you go, and we only print once you're ready. Your family information stays private, too.
That's completely normal. You can start with the names you know and add more anytime. Your tree saves automatically, and you can invite family members to fill in their own branches. You can order your tree framed or unframed. Every print ships on museum-grade fine art paper sized to fit standard frames, so you can frame it yourselves or add one of ours at checkout.
Prints ship within 3–5 business days and typically arrive within a week; expedited shipping is available at checkout when you need your tree sooner. If you choose to have us frame your art, processing may take 1–2 more days. And because your tree only prints when you say it's ready, starting early is the easiest way to make sure it lands by the day you need it.
